INSTRUCTOR
Giles Murray
Giles joined the Karate-Do Shotokai (KDS) in 1987 when he began his training at the University of Durham karate club. After graduating, he moved to London and was one of the founder members of the London KDS club, which shortly afterwards became Imperial College (University of London) KDS.
Giles became an instructor in 1992, and from 1995 was
senior instructor at the Imperial College club. During this time Giles
was awarded his Registered Instructor Certificate (equivalent of the
French DIF) by the English Karate Governing Body, and was also awarded
membership of Sports Coach UK by the National Coaching Foundation.
In 2003 Harada Sensei, Principal of the KDS, along with the Technical Executive, awarded Giles his Third Dan black belt.
As well as launching a club in Gourdon, Giles also trains and instructs at
the KDS club in Toulouse (founded in the early 80s), and has regular contact
with the Harada Sensei.
Like all instructors in the KDS, Giles is not paid to teach karate.
